You guys know that I LOVE my mini objects. They are so versatile and engaging for so many kids. So, materials that are compatible with mini objects win my heart over immediately. This one is called FOREVER GROWING BUNDLE! SPEECH mini objects WH visuals Pronouns from Monae's Speech House. What I love the most about this bundle is that even though it is designed to be used with mini objects, several parts of this resource can be used in other ways!

This bundle is HUGE. I'm not kidding. There is so much included in this bundle that I'm surprised it doesn't cost more than $14.50. I'm going to list all that is included then touch on my favorite parts and how I use them.

1. Visual cues for describing with three levels of support

2. Describe Me Wheel

3. Describe Me Sentence strips for sentence expansion

4. I Spy worksheets for categories and descriptors

5. Blank Word lists for Homework with Parent letter

6. Visual Cues for speech sound production that can be used to organize mini objects

7. Color Language and Speech Mats

8. Black and White Language and Speech Mats

9. Speech Scenes for narrative goals, WH, prepositions, and more

10. WH Question Box

11. Where House for WH and prepositions

12. Gingerbread Where House

If you haven't encountered a child who cannot describe or understand when you ask them to, trust me that you will feel deer-in-the-headlights lost. It's like if you've ever tried to define a word without using that word. The visual cues and levels of support included in this resource are helpful for your clients, but also for you as you learn to address this skill. The Describe Me Wheel is my favorite tool for language tasks. It's so colorful, thus engaging, and is a handy-dandy way to go through characteristics. You could use this as a visual cue or put a brad and arrow in the center to make a spinner for a describing game! I also like to put a mini object in the center and go around the circle describing the different aspects. This would be great with groups as you could place an item in the center and ask each child to describe a different characteristic correlating to their individual goals.

I'm a big fan of speech homework. Research shows that frequent practice of skills is more effective than duration of practice so it's a no-brainer that practicing speech goals outside of the speech room is a win for everyone! But it can be difficult to find time to prepare homework and explain it to parents, especially for school SLPs who have limited contact with parents. That's why I love that blank homework lists and a letter for parents are included in the bundle! Plus, the lists can be used for speech and language goals. You can print of a few copies and pre-cut them so all you have to do is write down the targets and send it home with your kiddo!

The speech and language mats might be my favorite part of this bundle. There are 36 different mats with multiple themes such as fall, winter, back to school, Valentine's day, St. Patrick's day, and even President's day! Color mats as well as black and white mats are included. I love to use these to place mini objects on as they are identified but you could also place play-doh on each target, stack mini-erasers, or use black and white copies and bingo daubers to color the targets.

Teaching WH questions can be as daunting as teaching describing. We use WH questions pretty often - especially when talking to children! That's why I love the Where house included in this resource. It gives a visual for children to learn the concept of where as well as other concepts if you choose to do so. For example, in the photo to the left I have a deer outside the house. You could ask "where is the deer?" then ask "why isn't the deer inside the house?"

Just like mini-objects themselves, I could go on and on about this resource. It's truly a staple material to have if you own a mini-object collection. So tell me, do you own this resource and love it? What are your favorite materials to use with mini-objects?
